Dissonant, dark, dirty and at times rather deranged, Tommy Victor always did swing his D--s low, hard and squarely at your skull.

Tommy Victor never necessarily did 'happiness' and Prong never necessarily gave a shit about making the 'feel good album of the year'...for Tommy Victor, high-praise for Prong was best served in the packed clubs and sweaty mosh-pits around the world which never missed the band's appearances or albums as 'critics' consistently missed the boat.

And every time Prong were ignored by the mainstream whilst being revered by the underground, or worse still ripped off by lesser, spineless musicians without a creative pot of their own to piss in, Tommy Victor would allow a little more grudge, a little more studge, a little more mudge and a fair few vials of distilled, frustrated, blood-and-bile infused anger to seep into the mix.

Which brings us to Power Of The Damager, Prong's bloodiest, sharpest, most gym-whipped riff-spewing album yet. 13th Planet fat cat in leather pants Al Jourgensen says it's Prong's best record ever, and the charmer ain't lying.

Turn the fucker up and make sure you wait for the swinging hooks and heavy-weight punches that come with it. What you will recognize are musicians who feed off the power of the riff and the might of alternative music every bit as much as the metallic waters through which Prong have stomped since its inception in New York City during 1986 (Tommy worked at CBGB--s - the infamous NYC punk and indie club when he formed Prong).

Steeped in roots of Die Kreuzen, Bad Brains, Killing Joke and New York noise-rock like Swans and Live Skull, Prong--s first release in 1986 was on renowned indie punk/alternative label Southern Records (Spigot in the US).

From the beginning Prong was about traditional rock song-structures merged with simple steel bar riffs, atonalism, art-rock atmospheres, all culminating in a crushing sound which was also curiously pleasing to the ears as it liquefied your brain.

Prong--s s popularity grew rapidly, and in 1989 Epic Records came sniffing, recognizing the power and force of Prong--s irreverence, snapping the band up. Prong did not collapse into a corporate shoe-box. They wouldn--t. They couldn--t.

Prong continued to enjoy underground appeal for a further six years, refusing to bend or buckle for the sake of commercialism, always staying very true to its own natural sound and ethos.

Various situations caused a rather long hiatus for Prong between 1996 and 2002 (during which Victor played with the likes of Rob Zombie and Glenn Danzig) before re-surfacing in 2002.

Victor met Monte Pittman (fresh off the bus from Texas) via White Zombie drummer Ivan De Prume, and the two clicked deeply (Pittman went on to land the guitar slot in Madonna--s band, a position he still holds). Thereafter, Prong seriously kicked back into full overdrive once more after Victor hooked up with Ministry and its leader/ 13th Planet label boss Al Jourgensen.

Recognizing a fellow itinerant musical spirit Jourgensen was delighted to sign Prong to his indie imprint 13th Planet Records, throwing open the doors to the label--s association with Sonic Ranch Studios down in El Paso, TX and Jourgensen--s own 13th Planet Studios during the summer of 2007, facilitating Prong--s Power Of The Damager. Further recognizing the importance of independence, Jorgensen did not produce the album, leaving that to Victor and associate producer Pittman, who was instrumental in helping with sequencing and arrangements, although Jourgensen does lend a mixing hand on --The Banishment.-- Pittman switches over to bass guitar and drummer Aaron Rossi (a highly-rated drummer in the LA indie scene) locks in a murderous bottom end.

Power Of The Damager is an angry record. It--s a real record. It--s based on real experiences and reflects real situations. Nothing--s polished and nothing--s been saut--ed--it--s raw, raw as fuck. And you eat Power Of The Damager with all those bloody trimmings hanging off, its taste refreshingly feral in an insipid era of mediocrity. Because with Prong, what you hear is what you get is what they are. No extras, no bullshit. Get it?
